Beautiful house . . . quiet local neighborhood . . . far enough away from the bustle of Mendocino Village, yet close enough to walk there any time you feel the urge to mingle. Whale's Tail is the right place, at the right time, any time of the year for visitors who want to sample the "Mendocino Experience" on their own terms.
Whale's Tail offers a large west facing deck perfect for ocean gazing and sunning in the afternoon. Roundabout is a spacious yard with islands of heather, pampas grass, rock roses, and other coastal plants.
Large view windows virtually bring the outdoors in, filling the living, dining, and master bedroom areas with a special lightness and energy.
The house gets its name from owners who remarked that when they sat on the deck, and looked at the distant Pacific, "all we could see was whales' tails!" Absolutely true! During the Gray Whale migrations in November/December and February/March, Whale's Tail is a great place to watch the mighty cetacean travelers as they pass close to shore.
